Profile
In our couples work together, we will focus on creating a true secure partnership, based on principles of justice, fairness and sensitivity. The work is collaborative; with a commitment to one another's well-being to resolve conflict. I see breakdowns in long-term relationships as a non-pathological process. We will build understanding of how early coping strategies lead to current reenactments of our historical relationship patterns; resulting in misattunements, misunderstandings, repeated cycles of injurious behavior, and failures in repair. In this experiential approach to therapy, you will practice new ways of relating and repairing, to create a more supportive, meaningful, and secure relationship. Whatever the conflict, your experience that your partner has your back, will give you the strength and energy to better manage your challenges.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Theatre, as well as my Masters Degree in Social Work, focusing on mental health, from UCLA. Fueled by an intense curiosity for human behavior and relationships, my first career was acting in the theatre. This interest in human dynamics, emotional worlds, and life stories, ultimately led me to Psychotherapy. I began working with individuals and couples in private practice in 2006, and began on-going PACT training in 2013. I am a certified PACT therapist, and a member of the PACT Institute faculty. I am also certified in Dynamic Emotion Focused Therapy, and a faculty member of the DEFT Institute. In addition to my private practice, I also worked at a city hospital in Los Angeles with women, children and newborns for 15 years. I have extensive experience providing counseling to individuals, and families who are suffering from medical or psychiatric illness, addiction, and trauma; including pre and postpartum depression and anxiety. I have years of experience working with parents and their babies admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit; providing support to increase attunement and to foster secure attachment.
As a member of a longterm committed relationship and a mother of two, I understand the challenges of being in a couple, and I bring this respect and compassion to our work together. If you want to start your journey to having the relationship you have always dreamed of, I invite you to call for a complementary phone or zoom consultation.
